I plan on doin that tomorrow afternoon. This evening I drove it to church and it died on me as soon as I pulled into the parking spot. I talked to a guy there and he told me about using some lucas fuel stabilizer with good results. So i had the wife run me into town and I picked up a bottle of it , poured about half in and drove it home. When I got home and stopped it was idleing fine until I turned the ac on then it died and was hard to start again. It seems like its going to be bad fuel and I reckon tomorrow ill drain the tank, add some fresh fuel, and change the filter again and see what happens. The guy at church told me to pull the in tank pump and clean a screen in there? Has anyone ever had any problems like this? Thanks Mike

Well I thought wrong , the truck doesnt have a in tank pump its just the pick up lines and the wires were for the float. Anyways i dropped the tank and drained it. I also pulled that float assembly out and it does have a screen on the bottom of it. Well i cleaned it and it is coming apart. Where is the best place to get one of those screens?

So it must have an aftermarket fuel pump probably on the frame rail. Does it have a fuel pressure guage ? You don't wanna run it with low fuel pressure injection pumps are $$$$ :c:

No it doesnt have a aftermarket pump. It has a stock lift pump on the side of the block still. the truck is still 100% stock except the exhaust , so it doesnt have a gauge or a aftermarket pump......yet

I would recomend not running it until you get a fuel pressure guage on it. :c:

Ok guys here is what I did. I dropped and drained the tank cleaned the pickup screen, put it back in, pulled fuel filter, drained bowl twice, replaced new filter, started it, bled the lines just to be sure, then drove it to the fuel station and put more good diesel in it..... All I have to say is the official ford and gm tow vehicle is back in service!!! Thanks guys for the help and a fp gauge is on order also.:jump:

Things happen live and learn. Lol. I would reccomend running a fuel cleaner like diesel kleen for one or two tanks since you had an issue. I put 2cycle in my tank as most do with these trucks to help lubricate the pump
