First Cummins, have some questions
Okay so I just bought a 1998 24v ECSB a few weeks ago. It has an edge drag comp, ts lockup box, gauges, glacier diesel lift pump, and built trans. My questions are....
1. I have an open rear differential with 3.55's. I want to install a posi unit in it. Would a posi unit from a 4.10 geared truck work in mine? Would it have to be from a Cummins or would one from a gas 2500 work? 2. The drag comp box seems to add plenty of power, but does not smoke at all. It was installed by Sheid with a Bd stealth plate, so the tap should be good. Its not that I just want it to smoke like crazy, I just think that it should be fueling hard enough to smoke some? It was made in like 2004 and I have heard that they have had some software updates? 3. My fuel pressure gauge does not work. I think that the sending unit is bad, but I'm not sure. How can i diagnose if its the gauge or the sending unit? The guy I bought it from said it just quit working one day. |
you could have a bad ground to the guage so I would check the grounds, and you can use a Multimeter and do a continuity test to see if the sending unit is good or bad. If the truck no smoking thats a good sign it is tuned well, a little puff is normal espicially with an auto transmission, I cant answer you axel question since I dont deal with them enough?, but 4.10 are for towing so if you not towing 80% of the time or more I would not worry about swapping axels. But I do belive the gasser axels are no different from the diesel.

Well I dont want to swap out the ring and pinion and everything, just the limited slip unit. Would it fit into mine?

if you want a chip that smokes and fuels hard with lots of hp get a quadzilla

Alright, well how can I identify a 3.55 posi rear end? Ill probably just go search the junkyards...

to see if the trucks programmer is runnig right pu tthe truck in drive and the left foot on the break. then push your foot on the throttle slowly untill you have t nder wuite a load. if it does not smoke at alldurring that then you have an issue

So is there anyway to check weather my pump tap is working or not? I checked the wire that connects to the stealth plate and it has power with the key on. The ground seems to be good also. I read somewhere that I should check the green wire going into the box for power to see if its working? Is that true?
