jumpin idle

i bought my truck in may and about last week or so i noticed once in a great while if i have my truck runnin and in park after i got done towin or even just drivin around it likes to jump up in rpm then go back to regular idle. it doesnt do it constantly it'll do it once then maybe and again in a couple minutes and so on.
is this common or do i got some issue i need to deal with?

Check this thread out and specifically the video. If that is what your truck is doing then it is most likely the camshaft sensor.

It is kinda a pain but manageable. Its up under the injection pump

any tricks to gettin it done fairly quick?
how longs it usually take to change?

OMG my truck is doing the exact same thing as ur was doing in the video HDR but I changed my cam sensor when I replaced my vp. Do u think its possible I got a bad one??? Also Ive heard that the crank sensor will kinda cause this on a 99 could that be a source of the problem too??? Sorry I dont mean to hijack ur post Cody:pals: but Ive had the same ol F'in problem myself an cant seem to figure it:argh:.

It is possible you got a bad CSS. You may want to replace both of them. They are fairly inexpensive.
