nv4500 stuck in 3rd

So I let my brother drive my truck to town today and the story he tells me is that he went to downshift from 4th to 3rd and it grinded a bit, after he got up to speed a bit more he went to shift back into 4th and it would not come out of 3rd. As the truck sits right now no matter what I do it will not budge i've tried several different things to get it out of gear and nothing.

My question is this. Is there anything I can do to get it out of gear? Has anyone else had this problem? What will it take to fix it?
Sorry about all the questions I bought this truck about a month ago from a dealer that knew about as much about it as I do, which isn't much other than the obvious. When I got it the tranny was pretty hard to put in gear but there was no grinding, the fluid was nasty so I changed it and put in full synthetic lucas 75/90 and it made the shifting really easy for a couple days than it pretty much went right back to the way it was before I changed it. I'm completely lost here HELP!

Well after much head scratching we decided we would start easy first pulled the shifter out and flipped it to neutral than put it back in everythings good now. He must of shifted it just right to get it stuck.:humm:

I have had the same thing happen to me on 2 different trucks.
Just took the shifter off the top and slid gears with a big screwdriver.
