Straight Pipe.

Can i straight pipe my truck by myself? if i got a muffler delete pipe. Also what are some sexy cheap exhaust tips. that would fit onto my stock exhaust without adapter.

if you can weld/have a welder available and have the pipe.... yes, im not sure about buying the delete pipe. Are you in an emissions state?

you can pick up a straight pipe, turbo back kit pretty cheap. Post in the Quote section and the vendors will shoot you pm's with pricing. I did my exhaust by myself uninstall of old and reinstall of new w/muffler in about 2 hrs. Biggest pain is getting to the turbo flange bolts.

Stock exhaust is very restrictive

^ agreed, very restrictive. Bump it up to 4" turbo back. Our sponsors will get you a great deal on a kit. I suggest a kit with a muffler as well, as it will reduce cab drone.

I was thinking 5'' back i have heard of people trying to decide on 4'' or 5'' back and it seems like they all do 5'' back with like a 6'' tip.

5'' Turbo back 6'' no muffler hehe:rocking:

5'' Turbo back 6'' no muffler hehe
Sure, enjoy the drone in the cab. 5" has no performance gains over 4", FYI. I installed 5" as I had plans of the compound turbos. It made no sense to me to have a 5" outlet of the S471, just to neck it down to 4"

Rollin Smoke Diesel. Diamond Eye K4212A 4" Turbo-Back With Muffler Single AL: 1994-2002 Dodge 5.9L Cummins 2500/3500

Thats what im gonna do less drone right??

RAW 08-02-2012 01:05 PM

That would work very well.

the noise is not bad at all with no muffler.... i have a 4" turbo back system and you can not here the exhaust in the truck... all you can here is the motor noise and turbo! witch i love!!! but i put on 8" pipe and they are right there is not any gains above four.. save your money buy a 4" system with a muffler or non muffle your chose. i can say though i got more power out of my four inch system when i removed the muffler something to think about...

Must have been one hell of a muffler to make a performance difference. I can see straight though my muffler, it won't change performance at all. It does take the cab drone out, plus if a Cop crawls under and sees no muffler, it could be a fine. Depends where you live, and the local laws. For the price difference, I wouldn't take the chance.

iWannaRollCoal 08-02-2012 03:26 PM

Idk the laws around here i live in utah. my dads truck has no muffler it has a aero turbine muffler which i bet acts like a muffler reducing cab drone but idk.

I agree

Our trucks are loud as s%*t anyways, i am very please with my 4" w/ muffler. From the outside the straight pipe sounds good, i have never ridden in a vp truck w straight pipe to comment on cab drone. I just know the engine itself is loud enough to turn the radio up a few extra clicks while cruising w/ the muffler system. I know the CRs w/no muffler are very loud inside at cruising rpm.

If your truck is a short bed, the length of pipe left over from the kit with muffler is just about right to where you could run with the muffler and if you dont like it, take the muffler off and stick in the straight piece.
