stalling on inclines

I had the same problem with mine climbing Vail pass in Colorado and thought fuel filter, but I changed that, same prob, changed lift pump still same problem. On the way home it just died and would not start. ot home set the linkage aside and removed shut off solenoid, took out plunger, reinstalled and it fired up. Found a solenoid on ebay 9.50, same as early VW with bosch pump. Now works perfect. NAPA wanted 90 something for it but I found it on Ebay. Hope this helps:jump:

You are most welcome, If you have to drive your rig until your part comes in, you can you still have to use the manual shut off when you stop. I hope this is what it was because I bleed injectors and still would not start, pulled out that plunger which you can run with out. Oh I used a small chisel to unscrew solenoid as could not fit wrench, came out easy and lightly chiseled tight, check for leaks

Just take off the rear pump mount takes 2 extra minutes n you can get a wrench on it.
