New HG....now won't start?
 

Got the old girl back together alas. Rebuilt turbo, totally redone head, new radiator and oil cooler. Now the damn thing won't start. I've had it hit with starting fluid(yes I know, not good for it).

I've got fuel in the lines, been bleading them like crazy and it seems like the air is out but it still won't start. There is a wire for the fuel shut off solenoid and it has power on it so I dont think it's trying to shut the fuel down. I've primed the manual lift pump lever and made sure to top off the fuel filter, in addition to rechecking that it was sealed. There are a couple other wires on the ve pump that I have no idea what do, but I dont have any loose wires or anything of that nature.

Did I have a lift pump fail maybe, or would it at least hold fuel long enough to try and start even if it has expired....truck was always an easy starter before this.

No, I didn't take it off just the lines that had to come off.

Hmmm. cool??? and you can bleed fuel out of the lines at the injectors? what is your lift pump pressure? odd that this just happened. i hate when there are no other previous symptoms.

make sure you're getting 12 volts to the shutoff solenoid.

How to I best check lift pump pressure? Just pop the line off after the fuel filter and put a gauge on it? I do have 12v on the shutoff solenoid and I do have fuel in the lines to the injectors. I would think if I cracked a line and cranked the engine over it'd spray like a mother, but I've not seen that really.

This may not be your problem but just about 2 days ago i fixed a friends truck that had similar issues and the metal fuel line right before the lift pump had a small hole in it... the truck would start right after you bled the injectors. it would only stay running if you kept it around 2000 rpm...

yes you can check the fuel pressure by taking out the banjo bolt that has the bleeder screw in it, on the injection pump side of the fuel filter.
