Warped oil cooler?
Getting to the bottom of things and wanted to make sure I shared this. I did a HG job, lots of head work and had the oil cooler checked for leaks(pressure checked). I had water pouring into my oil after reassembly....took the oil cooler off hoping to find something.
Sure enough, the cooler and the housing both are warped to hell. Is this common at all? Anyone heard of it? I got new gaskets(again) and a new oil cooler coming, had the housing milled down just a touch to fix it and we'll give her another go! |
Never heard of it before but I've seen stranger things

Should have asked originally, does anyone have the torque specs and sequence for the oil cooler? Thanks!

Just wanted to update, this is likely a one in a million but I did buy a new cooler after having a machine shop confirm what I was already sure of. Mine was somehow bent/warped along with the filter housing. They were able to mill the filter housing just a little so I could reuse it, and I purchased a new cooler and gaskets. Problem thus far solved.
