howdy yall just bought first cummins and its been pretty could where im at an i would like to know if there was a way i could get a high idle switch or rig one in my truck? any help or info grately appreciated thanks in advance dudes

 

Lots of guys will run a push pull cable to the linkage on the pump. The RPM can be set at anything when done this way.

 

yea i heard of that i was just wondering if there was a switch that i could plug up an hide under dash or something like that thank you

 

Nope not really. However some 1st gens came with a mechanical factory high idle setup. My 90 had one n it was really nice.

 

and hows that its just like new trucks where it comes on automatically or you got to mess with the cruise controll?

 

Basically you press the peddle down till the engines running where you want then you pull out this handle near the steering collum n twist to lock it.


The most advanced thing on these trucks are power mirrors on the 92-93's. the ECM only does the most basic of things your gonna find any of these fancy things like on a newer truck.

 

well i dont got power mirrors or nothing i dont know how to get pictures on this thing or else i would so i doubt i got the high idler thingy

Yeah but I wanna go to an hx40 yet. Mine came off a 2nd gen 12 valve n from a buddy's dads auto wrecker up the valley from me. Yeah I felt a difference with it. Will do n no problem.
