piston lift pump?

a friend of mine just gave me a lift pump off of his 96' 12v cummins. i was told this is the low pressure lift pump that they sell as an aftermarket? if it is what parts am i required to get besides the pump fuel line, fittings and hardware. i know i need the gasket and the spacer can anyone find me a site for these parts? also do i need to modify the banjo bolt for the fuel filter?

You would need to install it with a regulator. 2nd Gen pump is not a "low pressure" pump. It makes around 35psi IIRC - way too much for the VE front seal to handle.

ditto, the VE will only eat about 14psi before seals let go. the 2nd gen pump moves way to much fuel.

Yes, that is not a low pressure pump.
As for the banjo bolt, you could leave it alone or open up the holes to give it less restriction.

but when my friend ran it on his truck he only saw 17 PSI max from this pump. the only time he saw over 17 is when he put his airdog in

his OFV could have been crap or that pump could be on its way out. regardless dont use it!!!

was corrected he was running 28 psi so i will be using a fuel pressure regulator anybody know any reputable brands??
