drive pressure

Ok guys I should probably know this but I dont. What exactly is drive pressure when you are talking about turbos. Also how much is too much or too little.

drive pressure is the pressure in the exhaust manifold that is driving the turbine wheel. i cant say what to much is but blocking off wastegates and such creates very high pressures that destroy turbos.

By destroying he means over-speeds and the turbo comes apart or surges with a quick snap of the throttle then twists the shaft off. The pressure a lone doesn't destroy it, the forces created by pressures do :tu: just clarifying. I've heard once that if you can get drive pressures lower than boost pressure you have a VERY sweet set-up and it doesn't happen with single turbo set ups; higher possibility with compounds. Efficiency is the name of the game.
