Default charging problem

So last night my alternator just quit charging, it seemed in good shape so i messed with it for ten minutes then it started charging again, then quit like 10 miles later. So i put a new alternator on it since the ole one wasnt putting out any voltage but now it still dont charge or put out voltage at the alternator. Never had a problem like this before, and the voltage regulator is only a few months old and im not sure what to test. any one got any ideas? thanks

I dont know if a 90 is even remotely close to the same as a 92 as far as the wireing harness but on my 92 there is fuseable links that control the chargeing system so u might check there. And does it have a crank sensor?

Ha sorry man, read the title of the post and thought you meant Charging Refridgerant as to thats what i do for a living.
i dont own a diesel but im looking to get one. my ranger stopped charging a while back. it was actually the wire from the altenator to the battery thick gauge, not sure the size. had actually corroded away so badly that it was no longer making contact. id take all the connections off and check and make sure theyre all still there.. continuity on a multimeter will save your *** in this situation along with Amps.
hope to get it fixed

I had an issue with this on my 93 and it was the field wire from the PCM to the alternator. The wire had been broken off right at the PCM, believe it was pin#20 but I could be wrong.
