500 ft-lbs from pump tuning?
Hey guys just got my first cummins less than a month ago (91.5) and shes gonna get all redone and i cant wait to haul with it. The main thing that i want to be able to do with it is keep up with my dads 02 duramax. I found specs for his truck and they say it makes about 235hp and 500 ft-lbs. I know i can tune the pump but i was wondering how much power i could really get from tuning + exhaust + BHAF and still get good mpg's

Stick or auto? The main thing you'll need to keep up with him is a tight converter and not so much more power.
Its an auto :( haha. i most likely wont be able to replace the converter for awhile considering money i am putting into the body and other arears. But what would be a good converter to get?
My truck made 250hp and 588tq with pump tuning, 100 hp injectors, and a 3200 spring. That was on a stock clutch and LP
Thanks, so about the transmission. . .? what should i do as far as torque converter or other trans mods that will allow me to be able to tow and go like my dads duramax?
Ive got 75hp injectors with an hx35 and an ats five star torque converter and it holds pretty good. It's like night and day compared to the stock one that came out of it.
Okay thanks, ive been seeing people saying stuff about 100hp 75hp . . injectors and ive been wondering what the real advantage is and why they make more power? Is it just the amount of fuel that they are able to deliver or is it the tip design that allows the fuel to atomize quicker?
More fuel, and the hp nicknames are generic for injectors when they should be identified by # of holes and size i.e. 5x.12. I would look for a set of 5x.12's for your truck unless you plan on getting a new turbo in the near future.
Okay sounds good. I dont plan on running a different turbo unless my egt's get to high after pump tuning. I was thinking about putting injectors out of a non-intercolled truck because i heard they were 9mm and the ones in my truck are 7mm. I was thinking it would be cheaper to do that and possibley upgrade the nozzles on the 9mm's. Am i wrong in thinking this or am i on the right path?

Okay then lol i guess thatd be a no go. So i guess a better question would be am i going to need to upgrade my injectors to get my 200hp 500ft-lb goal? (Thanks everybody for all the help and info)

Turn up the fuel screw and have a board ready in case of run away. Get gauges. Go from there. I made 264rwhp on a stock turbo and converter with way too much fuel....

Your JQmile on other forums right? ^^^

I'm probably close to the numbers you're looking for (I think) pump is up about 5 1/2 turns, starwheel 90* clockwise, denny T stage 2 pin, BD diesel 40hp injectors, stock 130k trans is not a fan, either gona sell the truck now that it's painted and perfect looking or swap in a newer trans with the lock up converter.

well thanks guys i appriciate all the help and tips
