Changed tranny and motor mounts -- shakes like crazy!

Anyone else had this problem?
Shifts smoother and lower noise and vibrations at speeds over 5 mph, but under 5 mph and especially at start up, shakes like mad!
It seems to quite down after driving for 20 minutes -- maybe the heat softens them up?!
I almost wish I had kept the toasted mounts in -- at least my teeth didn't chatter.

it's really the worst at a dead stop.

I dont think it would in the trans. At first I was thinking U joints but then I re-read your post and it gets worse at idle. I would guess maybe a timing issue or bad injector causing almost a miss. What RPM does your truck idle at?

wisconative 01-12-2012 01:53 PM

not sure

my bro in law has the tools to check rpm's for a diesel -- do you know what the specs are for correct idle rpm's or where I might find it?
Also, is there anything I need to know specifically for the injectors? -- bro in law says he has a tool for that, but that I may need an adapter for it.

Thanks

I guess I am surprised if it is the injectors, It only has 130k
I run Lucas through it every tank. Just did a fuel filter change and filled filter with Lucas. Also, no white smoke, just some black at start-up and some haze during idle if engine is hot (well it looks like haze -- I can see it in my mirror, but when I go outside to look, it can't be seen). whaddya think?

ricet07 01-12-2012 03:04 PM

700-800 rpm. Does it seem like you have a loss of power or is it going through fuel like crazy? If you just did the filter make sure the o ring sealed good and you didnt get some air in the line/pump. Bleed it out good and make sure there isnt any air then give it a shot.

Does it go away if you raise the engine speed a little? My idle was set too low and it shook like a stripper needing to make rent money.:rocking:Rocky

wisconative 01-12-2012 03:32 PM

yep it goes away

I did the fuel filter over a month ago, didn't notice any change -- until the mounts were replaced -- so I don't think air is in it.

It goes away at any speed over about 5 mph -- I agree and am starting to think (hope) it is the idle rpms being to low.

Will check that first and see if it goes away.

thanks for the help:rocking:

Hope the idle works for ya, there was just a thread not too long ago about tricks to adjusting the idle screw a little easier.

wisconative 01-12-2012 03:56 PM

was that the thread with the link to the youtube video?
