1st Gen Dead-No start
My dad's '93 Ram 350 has been a great truck until a week ago. He was driving it and it died suddenly and wouldn't restart. He has no power going to the instrument panel. He jumped a hot wire to the back of the fuse box and two of the four prongs powered up and the truck ran, but only with the jump wire. The other two prongs are dead. Someone suggested he change the fuesable links, but so far, he hasn't found any. He changed the ignition switch with no change. Any suggestions?

Here's a link to replacing them with big blade style fuses https://www.dieselbombers.com/1st-ge...tml#post575775 |
He said he couldn't find a fuseable link. This should help him find it. Thanks. I'll keep you posted.

Its the oragne one closest to the engine it run the ignition.

I looked under the hood myself and didn't find an orange fusable link. It appears to me that most of the wires have been replaced. They are all red and are held together by a zip tie. What I did find was an orange wire going from the battery terminal into a glass fuse, but the wire coming out of the fuse tube was red from there on out. Would this be the fuseable link and it was just changed out at some point? I pulled the glass fuse and it looked fine.

Can u take a pic of your wireing harness?

i had the same problem 1 week ago. its the orange fuseable link on driverside fender it there will be an orange fuse-link replace it with an inline fuse (40 amp) and you will most likely need to replace the igniton switch.
|
Me personaly I have never had to replace the ignition when a fuseable gets burnt fried but your case might be different.
|
when i replaced it with an inline fuse the truck would start and run perfect and got my wait to start light back and my grids but truck would not shut off when i took the key out so bought an ignition and fixed it no problems now only time will tell :tu:

Finally traced the wire out and found the problem. It's running great now. Thanks for the help!
