Turbos
 

Ive been doing some lookin around on the internet and seen where some guys will simply make a compound setup from there stock turbo plus an aftermarket one. Im not exactly sure which one i have on my truck. my truck is all stock and it is a 91.5 D250 intercooled, if anybody knows off the top of their head which turbo that would be and what a good aftermarket would be to compound with this it would be very helpful, or if its just not worth the headache of messing with that and simply buying a compound setup and bolting it on. im not afraid of some hard work but im not sure which step should be the first step. thanks for any help!

If nothing has been changed, you have a Holset H1C on your truck right now. I'd prefer a turbo with a wastegate for twins, but people don't always use one. I run an s300g over an s475. Depending on how much fuel you plan to run, etc., etc. etc. I would recommend an S471 or S475. Borg Warner part numbers 171701 and 171702. They are as cheap as you will get a good primary. I bought mine from these guys. Call them up with the part number for a price. Twins are a lot of work, but a lot of fun. The price of the turbos is only a fraction of the total cost of what it takes to make it run right and stay together.

Hell yeah! Thanks man, which do you think is cheaper in the long run? Building your own compound setup or buying one? :humm:

It's about six one way, half a dozen the other...
Lots of work making your own, but no one has a complete 1stgen bolt on set up. PDR is the closest to complete, but has no primary brace. The down pipe on 2nd gen style kits requires you to modify your firewall to have clearance. I made my own, and would do it again. If you have the tools and ability and do lots of research, making your own will allow you to have exactly what you want.

alright thanks for your help! im lookin in to it now.. it makes more sense to be able to fine tune exactly what i want by building my own setup as opposed to buying a kit. another question i have, i am a HUGE fan of hood stacks and was planning on running one on this truck, will that still work with a compound setup? even if i have to modifiy something, is that still a possibility?

Yep, look at the link I gave ya. Snoot's setup would allow a hood stack.
