190hp injectors

what are the torque specs for injectors when installing new one's and what do you do to get the old ones out if they are being rude and not comin to easy??????? got two out al ready and the third is stickin:argh:

44 ft lbs. is the torque.
I puller all the lock down nuts and let them soak overnight in penetrating oil. Then I made a puller using 2 lock down nuts and another nut that fit the threads for the fuel line. They came right out.

The threads on the line nut are 12mm, if I remember correctly, I found a lug nut that would screw on there and then used a small pry bar under the edge of the nut and across the top if the headbolts smacked the bar with my palm and they popped out. Once they move a little they will come out easy as they aren't a tight fit in the head. Good luck,:rocking:Rocky

I welded a nut on the end of a rod that had a slider weight on it. (a slide knocker) thread it to the top of injector and tap it out, works slick. :choochoo::choochoo:

I have used all the ideas above and the all work. The other is to disconnect the 12v from the shut off solenoid. Remove the fuel line from the injector, Loosen the injector, place a shop rag over it and crank the engine. The compression will push it out.

vise grips a shop rag and a nice small hammer

jwirth 10-12-2011 12:54 AM

A lug nut makes it nice and easy.

Thanks for the video very cool little tool. For someone that is starting out like me it's refreshing to see how people with knowledge does things. I think that saves the world a few less 4-letter words. :) Thanks again

hiboy_76 10-13-2011 01:03 PM

That thing is slick! I'm gonna have to make me one of those :tu:

Use the vice grips as a last resort, they tend to mess the threads up if you use ones that are too small :w2:

LPU_911 10-13-2011 02:07 PM

Ha, me, knowledge? Everything I've learned has come from here, DTR, and my father, and I'm no where close to most of the people on here. It is a really neat little tool. My dad had a 12 valve before he got a 6.7L and he needed to pull the injectors (this was before I stumbled across that gem of a video). As a last resort he bought the cheapest Chinese vice grips he could find. The theory is that if the metal is cheap and soft then the vice grips will get deformed before the threads. We have used them a few times since for this purpose and I believe it has saved us some cash in the long run.
