Well first thing first... Gauges, at least a boost and pyrometer... Then do the simple pump mods (look in sticky) then a denny t fuel pin ($105) and a 3200 rpm spring (around $30).. That should be a good start!! Welcome to the first gen world! :hellox:

The 1st Gens are awesome trucks. I will drive mine until the wheels fall off.
I'd put a better torque converter at the top of the todo list for an auto. Power is no good if it ain't gettin' to the ground. |

I love my BD converter for my 727. Converter and shift kit made a world of difference. Trans acts great.

Autometer makes a single or dual pillar pod.

Next best thing you can do is READ, READ, READ and make your own decisions. Don't know how a turbo works? READ! Wanna' put a 3200 governor spring in? READ! Don't just lose faith and go buy what the first hawker tells you to, STUDY AND LEARN! Mark. |
Only item in my truck that is not stock is a 3200 spring. What a great addition. More responsive throttle, steady fueling all the way up through the RPMs. Hugh difference when towing a load as well. Just removing that stock governor spring which defuels early and has less than adequate fueling is the best bang for buck.

you can do many free things that will help your truck out, ( make shure it is getting full throttle, back out the throttle stop screw, give the power screw a turn or two, turn your stock fuel pin or grind it some, all this can easily give you 50 hp. BUT BE FORWARNED LIKE MARK SAID DO YOUR RESEARCH AND UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR DOING FIRST. Dar |
Thanks Mr. nixon i will definatly keep my ears and eyes open:c:
