Ford Highboy Cummins

So i couldn't get the 92 5 speed:dang:. So I'm going to do a Ford conversion:rocking:. My question is, What is the best way to do it? Do i take the drivetrain and axles from my 89 Dodge and put them in the 74 Highboy? Or put the body from the Highboy and put it on the Dodge frame? What is the easiest way to do this and do you have any pointers.:choochoo:

I would deff use the dodge running gear at least. I dont have much use for those old closed knuckle front ends... I really dont think it would be that hard to just put the ford on the dodge.. I had a 72 highboy i had been saving to do the same thing but i lost ambition and sold it:argh:

well, ive heard of these bodystyle of dodges having weak frames, never had issues with mine, but i am a ford guy as well and i know that the ford frame is pretty beefy, but i also know that the dodge front axle is heavier duty, because the engine is so heavy. so you need the dodge axles for sure.

i was thinking about taking my 89s motor and dropping it in the 97 i have, because i love that motor, and the ford is my baby, but i like driving the dodge too, so ive come down to the fact that i need another motor, preferably the 24 valve :P, to drop in my ford :)

I am doin the same thing. I am just taking the cab off and putting the ford cab on the dodge frame. It's tight under the hood because I have an ac cab and turbo hits the ac but it's goin to work. Making cab mounts are a lot easier and faster then basically building a new truck. They both are the same wheel base so it'll work perfect. Started mine Friday and cab is almost mounted today. Didn't work on it on Sunday at all. Going fairly smooth

i would hope you wouldent tear apart a perfectly good first gen... i would definatly find annother motor and i am a dodge guy but there are some of the years where ford made some pretty sweet looking body styles. and you can solve alot of fords problems by putting a dodge in it hell thats how you make a ford run again:tu::tu:
