fuel in oil = bad lift pump?

i noticed i have diesel in my oil and i have known for a while that the lift pump needs replacing but would this cause it? is this a serious concern for the engine lubrication where i shouldnt run it at all until i flush oil and replace lift pump?
thanks for your help, james

Yes you can get fuel in the oil from a bad lift pump. As for the oil, yea if you can tell its in there, i wouldnt be running it but thats just my personal opinion.

x2 on this. I just replaced my lift pump because it was leaking fuel into the crankcase.

I'm having the problem too about fuel in the oil but I was looking at my lift pump and the is a breather hole in it for the diaphragm so if it was leaking wouldn't it leak out the hole before into the case????

My truck wont start after changing oil and fuel filter. Hvae put new fuel shutdown solenoid in and new relays. Have bled lines and truck still wont start. Anyone out there got an idea or can help?

did you fill the fuel filter up with fuel? and keep bleeding took me tons of bleeding to get all the air out and it ran like a dream after 30 mins of bleeding.

As for fuel in the oil, quickserve does say that the lift pump is the first thing to check. If that doesn't work, then your supposed to check the injection pump seal, then the plunger seal, then your injectors. If you think its an injector, I'd check the exhaust header ports with a temp gun.

Still running the stock diaphragm pump? If so PM me, I have a NIB Federal Mogul piece I never used (went to a piston pump).

I changed my lift pump to my own fast fuel system that wasn't the problem with the fuel in oil so I re sealed my injection pump not very hard it takes more te to take it out then to reseal it was well worth it I got way better fuel mpg and more power no
