any suggestions on cheap power upgrades?
just bought a 91 ram at an auction and i need to know what some good cheap upgrades i could do in order to produce more torque and more smoke
|
Carefull on the smoke topic here... you will get raged pretty hard... :w2: but the first thing you should get is gauges! :scare2: THEN do the simple pump mods. Also a denny t fuel pin and a 3200 rpm spring work wonders..

alright thank you
i'll look into it |
Air filter $20-$60 (just put it on the turbo I removed the old one completely), Straight pipe $20-$30 i went to NAPA and got the correct amount of 3'' pipe and some exhaust clamps and slapped it on in like 15 min. Denny, T fuel pin $105 defiantly worth it:tu:. And this is how to install and or rotate the fuel pin and turn pump up.
P.S. he also tells you how to get smoke:scare2: |
I myself was wondering if that denny T pin and spring helped alot. My big problem is is there a way to make a little more power with out completely bombing my mileage. The best mileage I have seen lately has been 12.5. Keep in mind this is a 92 1 ton dually ex cab.

Your mileage will get better with upgrades that ''Free up the engine'' AKA the less restriction of airflow and fuel you have, the more power and milage you get. How quickly can you get the air and fuel through the engine? Larger turbo, Less restrictive air filter, Bigger injectors, Bigger fuel pump, Less restrictive exhaust, Ect. Thease are all improve your engine efficiency.

ok got the exhaust covered with 5 inch stacks and just the short stock down pipe but tryin to figure out the best option for the air filter. I'm a little pissed as dodge didnt give alot of air intake in that corner I removed the box and have the filter sitting in the corner right now but any of you guys have a better set up?

this is how i did it. skip to 0:30

This is what I done.https://www.dieselbombers.com/member...air-intake.jpg
|
i just ordered an asa cold air intake from pdr diesel because i do not feel like making my own and taking the chance of sucking a boot or metal fitting through the turbo.. :tu: Also with the denny t, as long as you keep your foot out of it (its hard at first) it should not effect your mileage :c:
|
So what am I going to suck into the turbo on my intake?:humm:
|
Nothing if you do it rite:tttt:
|
What he said.. :tu: just make sure everything you make is tight and secure and you will be fine! :c:
|
I just installed my m4 fuel pin ($100) and 3200 rpm spring ($20) this weekend it made a world of difference plus turning the pump up and I still get good mileage.
|
I thought about the filter right on the turbo like 89W250 did it was was concerned about adding that much extra hot air that I would be sucking in. I like the other pic with the tub but was wondering what tube or pipe I should use. I thought exhaust pipe but didnt want it to rust or something funky and send pieces into the turbo or what about PVC pipe would that hold up? It sounds like I need to find a fuel pin and spring!!:yeah:

Best page for you
Turning up the pre 94 Ram diesel injector pump have at it! Also, I have old smokey, is denny t any better? I haven't seen many other people with old smokey on here so I'm curious. |
From what i hear, old smokey can be kinda soft and groove real bad? Denny T just uses a lot harder metal that does not groove at all.
