Lift pump upgrade

I have read the sticky on what Cummins part numbers and the procedure to change out the factory 1st gen lift pump, but are there other solutions?

I was thinking a low pressure electric pump or an electric pump with a regulator. If this is a valid approach, does anyone know the flow rate needed to support something lets say 300 to 350hp? 110gph or higher?

Thanks for any help.

Alot of guys run Holley blue or black (or similar). The blue I ran would run 12psi at idle.

Is there any advantages/disadvantages with going to something like the Holley blue pump?

Can you use this style gasoline pump with diesel?

My friend that worked for cummins said 13 psi.:tu:

I ran a blue for 9 months before I sold the truck, 1 buddy has been running one for over a year and another has run a Speedyway version for a long time.

The blues are fine but the others may need to be regulated so as not to mess things up, I think its anything over 15 or 17psi is hard on seals so if your electric pump is below that your good unregulated.

That seems like a more cost effective option than upgrading to the cummins mechanical version in the sticky.
