91 turbo problem

i have a 91 w250 5spd 4x4 non intercooled 210000 miles my turbo was rebuilt wroung the guy i bought it off of didnt balance it so i have a 1994 turbo for a intercooled truck thats in great shape if i clock the turbo and use new boot then will i jack up my motor im not new to deisels on working on them but i dont know much about performance and swaping stuff out any input is appriciated

your 91 had an hc1 with a 18cm eh housing and that one from the 94 is a bigger hx40 i think. will at least need a down pipe with the hx40 ex flange and you might have to modify your intake too.
downpipe: Source Automotive Performance Diesel

i have machine shop capabilities at were i work so i am going to modify it to make it work i would buy the intercooler and piping but im on a very limited budget.

It's an HX35. 12cm2 exhaust housing, and I think a 54mm compressor wheel, if it's stock.

you are right i have been doing more reearch if i dont run the intercooler then will the 94 turbo hurt anything i just want to make sure it wont jack it up i have to drive this truck to work everyday and i cant have much down time

you'll b alright without the intercooler. EGT's would suffer if it were an intercooled truck running without an intercooler but given the fact the truck is non intercooled with a smaller turbo; throwing a "larger" turbo on cant do anything but lower your egt's anyways, you should see some higher boost and reliability wont be an issue. enjoy :c:

thanks for the info i will be putting the turbo on and seeing what it will do the old turbo wont spool up now and is blowing oil into my intake tube
