Have you bled the system? Any air?

big red ram 02-28-2011 05:20 PM

no air and new lines to and from tank

What else have you done to the truck? The VE is capable of pulling fuel pressure down to 0, so even if you LP was bad, you'll still be getting fuel. But, if you've done a lot of modding, you might not be getting enough.
In saying that, I'd be inclined to think either intake restriction or the IP itself. More info needed to help with this one.

... When you replaced the lines, did you check your pickup tube in the tank? You might well have a restriction in there. And check the fuel filter for water. I know I know, sounds obvious. You'd be surprised how many people don't. :argh:

the only mods i have done are bump timing 3 degress and turn my smoke screw in till it was even with the nut no water in filter i need to check my pickup tube now thanks for your help

A smoke screw in that much isn't going to give you much performance gain... Neither is three degrees advanced timing. Advanced timing with stock fueling might even hurt performance.

I don't think I'd expect the truck to smoke much if that was all that was done to it, nor would I really expect it to be able to move out of its own way. These things are ball-less stock, the early intercooled models especially.

First thing to check is boost pressure, then if that's low check fuel pressure. If boost pressure is ~14 PSI, then welcome to the world of stock first gens.
