1st gen diesel

hey i got a 1990 d-250 2wd 5.9 litrer non I/C, bone stock, wondering if someone had some easy instructions on how to turn up my starwheel for more power, and also i want a lil bitta black to what do i do?? its fairly easy ive been told but some help would bne nice thank you:c:

There are sticky's (or useful threads) at the top of the first gen section. I would advise doing more than just the starwheel. Turn your fuel pin, adjust your full power screw, turn the smoke screw and you can also turn the star wheel. And just a word of advice, NEVER EVER ask for smoke. You will get raped on here. :ouch: Welcome to the forum and best of luck to ya! :tu:

Gauges man, gauges. You will come to find out that those things (gauges) will be a life saver. You will need at minimum a pyrometer and boost. If you have an auto a transmiSsion tempature gauge will be good to have. After you get the gauges installed look in the sticky. And just like noted above, smoke=raping. Build for power. Smoke will come along. :jump:

ok Pyromoter it reads on how hot the exhaust gas gets anymore that 1250 for more than a few seconds you risk melting your motor not good but when I race or pass someone in the 3rd lane I can see 1600+ but its only for 2-3 seconds MAX

Drill and tap your manifold for a 1/8in pipe thread and find the center of the manifold right next to the turbo and go back about 1/8in towards the fire wall let me see if I have a pic

if you have gauges in your truck i would go with a governor spring and a fuel pin from denny t or mnh bestt 150 bucks you will spend on these old trucks power wise

cummin91 01-09-2011 01:52 PM

youtube has some vids on tweaking pump.. the guy goes step by step pretty easy :tu:
