I just bought a 92 dually 5spd and the guy the day i bought it said that the input shaft bearing was making a noise how hard of a fix is this and about how much will it cost me?

 

its doable by yourself. you just have to take the transmission off and remove the front. bearing cant be that expensive. Id just be concerned if it actually is the input bearing. When you change it you mine as well see how your clutch/pressure plate/ pilot bearing etc. are doing. It might be worth changing them too.

 

What make of vehicle? Engine?
Getrags in a Dodge are noted for needing rebuilt, it's pretty much a given at this age.
There are, technically no "cheap fixes" for "bearing noises" from the tranny, even "a simple throwout bearing" can easily work into needing a $300-$700 clutch job.

Or more, if you find internal tranny damage while it's apart.

if its just the "bearing" I would kit it since its that far out bearing kits go for 70-150 bucks and a full rebuild kit for 200-300
