how to prime a first gen
So what is the correct way to prime a first gen if you run it completely out of fuel? I cant seem to get her running for more than a stumble. Ive cracked the lines and got fuel out of them but thats about it. Any help?

on one of the banjo fittings going into the fuel filter there is a bleeder screw crack that and pump it with the lift pump once ya got fuel there crack the injector lines and pump the lift pump til it starts to get hard to pump then have some one crank the motor til you get a nice bit of fuel coming out the lines tighten the lines and that should be good to go
The Lift pump doesnt get hard though. when you press on it there is no resistance.
sounds like she is shot
Yeah but i just replaced it thinking that was the problem that caused the truck to just shut off while going down the road. The old one, the lever never came back up, at least the new one it returns back up.

Sounds like you have a bad shut off solenoid. Make sure you have 12v going to it
is the lift pump on the cam?
Yes lift pump runs off the cam. Like a small block chevy or Mopar.
I believe he means is the engine turned to a position where the LP arm going into the block is riding on a high lobe cam spot where it is actually capable of pumping fuel with the priming lever.
so your saying depending on if the arm is on the high side of the cam lobe or not, the lever won't function?
