Does the speedo move when the truck is not?

speedo with the key turned off reads 0 mph when the key is turned on it goes to 30 mph and stays there doesnt move at all until the key is turned off doesnt make a difference if the truck is running or not any ideas?

well after 3 days of troubleshooting i figure out what was wrong had a bad vss where the shaft had rounded out the ratio adapter and a bad wire on the fender well where someone had installed a screw at one time but at least i have od the speedo still reads wrong but does work and the odometer doesnt work does anyone know if u can rebuild or at least find a good speedo?

i had the same problem. i took it to aamco transmissions and told them the problem and they fixed it for free in a halfhour. the sensor has unpluged itself. and its an electronic od. so its not reading that your going fast enough it still thinks its going whatever the speedo says. take it to aamco and theyll fix it. if ya havent already fixed it.:tu:

You should call BBD for a adapter so your speedo reads right. 503-710-2765. you can live with it off for awhile but you get sick of the crappy shift points.
