Larger Injectors

I have not heard this discussed before. Why did the non intercooled trucks come with larger injectors? And why when they went to an intercooler did they go to a smaller injector. The intercooler would have made it possible to turn up the pump for more power but then smaller injectors were used. Did it have something to do with emissions or fuel economy? I'm getting 26 mpg driving easy on my non IC motor. Would I get better with smaller injectors?

Well one reason is the 9mm hole was too big in the head and 99% cracked from injector hole to exhaust seat

if i had to guess, id say warranty. most vehicles are detuned to keep things together.

Emissions, the piston changed along with the nozzle.

does the non-ic piston bowl and injector angle make better power in theory?

Yes.
