Default VE high pressure fuel distributor leak repair

Ive seen guys replace these on VWs with the pump on the car still. You just have to be carefull to not disturb the rollers and springs.Anyone do it on there cummins?I requires removal of the fuel lines and high pressure head. You just pull out distributor till you see the oring then stretch new o ring over the head and into the groove.

this can be done by loosening the 4 torx bolts and threading in a long 8mm bolt in the timing hole in the center simultaneously.this keeps the fuel piston nice and secure against the springs

anyone done this?

I would take the extra 30-45 minutes for a complete R&R and not have to work around the engine compartment. But that's because I've never seen it done and am stuck in my ways.

So your saying youd take the pump off eh?Its a toss.Theres the possibility of the return springs getting disturbed.Theres alot of post of VW guys getting this done succesfully with the counter threading of the bolts.hmmm i dont know

I've just never done it before.

Give it a shot and let me know how it works out.

(Those VW guys are pretty smart for the most part... They have us Dodge guys beat by a mile in most arenas.)

It's much more easily seen and accessed on the Vdub. I wouldn't try it.

To me stretching the o-ring is like ASKING for it to not fit correctly and leak, anyway.
Do it right, remove the pump.

Don't try it, and you'll never know the aggravation you may have saved yourself.
Do it, maybe screw it up, and the aggravation will be double or more, because you'll end up HAVING to remove it.

But that's just me.

Oh yeah, I have spare parts if you lose any.

Mark.
