Wa state emissions test required.
 

I have to do emissions in a couple weeks with my truck. I have pump not quite maxed and muffler delete. what changes should I make to ensure I will pass? truck is a 92 2wd 5 spd getrag.

What is included in the test? Is it a snap throttle opacity test? Sniffer test? I would, turn the pin to the lowest setting, screw out the full power screw, as said... back to stock.

Really? In WA? must just be where you are at.

Most WA tests are snappy and opacity, then if they see something wierd they will do a visual.

No tests here though (YET!)

Put a block under the pedal or do something to give you very little effective throttle travel.

It's a snap test, not a dyno test, they don't need the vehicle to actually accelerate or have power to prove anything. Sabotage it in the parking lot, let him floor on it and slowly raise the RPM to 1200 to pass the test, then de-sabotage it and do a smoky burn-out on the way out.


Keep the method of sabotage handy in the rare chance your air quality management district or whoever up there decides to conduct some random federal emissions enforcement; state enforcement won't bury you in fines, but district enforcement of federal mandates are more stringent and can add up to thousands of dollars in fines from a road-side stop.

Yep I gotta go thought this every year down here. My quickest "fix" is to through a can of copenhagen under the throttle, under the carpet. My Not so lazy fix is to run the wide open throttle screw in, so the truck only gets to 1500rps (ish). Then one time I went as far to detune the whole thing becasue I was worried. But that was the first time, now I just make it not rev up as high and it works every time. Make sure to raise the rpm's as slow as possible without them noticing you doing it (if that makes since). Also if you have a tac through your hat over it so they don't see that you are just above idle.
