injector research. what ya got?

What is everyone running? turbo and injector combo? power? not looking for a suggestion unless you are running it, that debate can go on forever.

getting ideas on what to order, no real goal for my truck since I daily drive it, tow with it, and play with it. leaning towards the 5x14's right now.

i got a phat shaft 62 and sdx 5x.014's. its a killer combo on the p pump. it still worked well with the ve pump i had too but if i did it again i wouldve run the same turbo with some 5x.012's or so.i got really tired about blowing smoke everywhere i went

I think with proper pump tuning a set of 5x14's could be used with a 62 turbo for almost any situation but you may need to turn your pump's full power screw down to keep egts in check while towing.

I agree with the chevy guy above me :w2: If you want less trouble out of them, i would go with 5x12's.

My current injectors are close to exactly the same size as 5x14's and with my turbo, the clutch isnt happy at all. id keep that in mind. also boost may get high and you may need head studs. I am at 38 psi when the clutch starts holding :argh:

my full power screw is 100% stock and untouched and its still smokey as hell. if that helps ya at all:tu:

That's weird. I know some guys like are running 300-400% injectors and have the fuel screw way back and they are running on smaller turbos like stock s300's and hx40's without much trouble. maybe they have the screw back more than stock? idk. mines cranked and always will be lol

Do you realize a 5x0.018" is a 180% increase over a 5x0.010"? Your friends must be running some Stanadyne S-type nozzles.

JBradley500 06-15-2010 06:08 PM

I meant 400% CSA. like 6x.009's stock to 6.018" was 400%.

Smokem...off topic but can you enlarge the holes in my current injectors to .013"? i sent you a pm but never heard back so i assumed it was full.

I do not use the stock 6-hole VCO nozzle, there is no point.
