Here's what a direct hit at 70 or so mph looks like.

from what I see, radiator and inter cooler are toast, lights, grill, bumper and bumper supports, and the fan shroud is missing a big chunk. overall not as bad as I thought it would be, now lets hope the insurance company doesn't decide to total it :ouch:

RSWORDS 06-04-2010 11:02 AM

Let them total it, buy it back for almost nothing, fix it for a couple hundred bucks and buy bombs with whats left.

1993firstgennewbie 06-04-2010 11:56 AM

hahahahaa i got that option to when i bought my truckhttps://www.dieselbombers.com/member...-phone-040.jpg

Budgreen 06-04-2010 01:07 PM

hahaha :jump:

yeah, they hinted at totaled like 3 times and the wont get to look at it till tuesday. but yeah, thinking buy it back, stick a radiator in and then look but not find the front end stuff and make it my new offroad rig, buy a dirtymax cuz this thing is jinxed..

DB Admin 06-04-2010 01:12 PM

Well it dont look that bad ,. a guy at work with a 2003 chevy 1/2 ton hit a small doe at 40 MPH and it totaled his truck bent the frame and everything

Budgreen 06-04-2010 02:12 PM

no, it's really not too bad.

what I see it needs.

grills, parking light, fan shroud, headlight bezel, that whole big front plasichrome piece, block heater cord, intercooler, radiator, bumper, the brackets that hold the bumper, and possibly a core support.. depends on if they can tweak it.

Captain Call 06-04-2010 08:51 PM

That isn't too bad. Best of luck with it.

Budgreen 06-05-2010 01:09 AM

just glad i wasnt in a car!

cmns2500 06-05-2010 01:12 AM

Budgreen 06-05-2010 08:00 AM

yikes...

i will admit i feel the truck did good for what it is. I hit one in november doing maybe 30 and i just had to tweak the bumper a tiny bit, couldnt even tell.

but the dmax vs ram. lol not what i was expecting!

jasonfriedlin 06-05-2010 10:22 AM

If you cant dodge it, Ram it. Wow

RICHD903 06-06-2010 09:06 AM

If the game warden would have let you, that ram sure would look good on the wall.:s:

When they totalled my 85 1ton, the dude that worked with the insurance co came to pick it up, he told me straight up, dude im buying this truck, and take what you want now, because you won't see it again. I called my insurance rep, and he said, yes this dude that contracted the work has 1st dibs on totals, cause only a small percentage of peeps want their vehicles. State Farm gets a kick back on that shit. Just my 2 cents. So I took my 2 new batteries and cryed as he pulled away with Big Red:baby:

Why give them the title? I would hold off till I got it back honestly, I did that with my 1986 ford diesel.. and eventually they decided they didn't wanna pay to hold it so they dropped it off :) that was Allstate of all people. This truck is on progressive and i'm not gonna let it go away from me regardless. as for totals.. they go to auction so i'm not sure how anyone can have dibs before you, if you tell them you plan to buy it back they pretty much have to let you as far as I know.

all ohio code states about it is that they don't have to issue you a check until you obtain a salvage title.. it was yours to keep until you signed the salvage title over to them, basically you got taken advantage of.

pewder 06-08-2010 01:20 PM

They let ya keep the head to mount above the fireplace?

Budgreen 06-08-2010 03:13 PM

oooooooo

$2700 in parts and labor = totaled.

now if my adjuster was ever around I wanna find out how much I can get it back for. haha

Billy D 06-08-2010 03:24 PM

:td:Like a good neighbor, State Farm was there...:td:

Budgreen 06-08-2010 03:33 PM

eh? this is progressive

I can fix it a lot cheaper.. and I don't care if the A/C doesn't work anymore *shrug*

Benjamin 06-08-2010 03:35 PM

find out what the max they will pay you and not total it if you want to fix it yourself..... see if it is worth it. then see what the amount they will give you if it is totaled, then find out what they want for it if you buy it back and see how much you will have left over and see if it is worth while.

BTW if it is "Totaled" and a salvage title is issued then you have to ( in Georgia )get it rebuilt by a licensed automotive re-builder and take it to get inspected by the state to be issued a "Clean" title. this cost money even if you know someone. so i would see how much they would pay me without totaling it.

Budgreen 06-08-2010 03:48 PM

either way. I can drop the drivetrain into my GMC offroad rig..

I have a lot invested in the truck new parts wise and I could sell for more than I will get from them i'm sure. ohio you can "rebuild" yourself, just provide reciepts for any major part replacements, shate highway patrol looks at it for $50 and you get reissued title.

of course the adjuster isn't in today... found out via. website lol

RattleBomb7.3 03-10-2011 08:23 PM

wow... all I gotta say is... they dont make em like they used to. the dodge and ford took if very well. dodge the deer, ram the duramax

Lil Red Express 03-10-2011 08:52 PM

Hope you get it figure out. Thats why I have a big front bumper. Hit 2 deere at the same time about 3 years ago and didn't leave a mark.:tu:

prison 03-10-2011 09:15 PM

i've hit 2 deer total. one in my 96 camaro. chipped the paint. no damage. second in my F-350 with my blocker bars on. chipped the paint off one of the bars. no damage

Shoe 03-11-2011 12:18 PM

Hell after I totaled my first 1st gen they bided it out. They said I needed a salvage license and it took a month to get. Ripped me off cuz i couldnt even get it back.

when my father totalled his 93 w350 the insurance company had someone who wanted to take the truck and my father had to physically stand infront of the truck to block the flat bed and eventually the guy gave up because my dad was for dam sure not letting the truck go. it was a bent frame from being t-boned at his work parking lot on drivers door. truck was repaired for 2000$ with full paint!!
