Whacky Temp Gauge

Hey everyone. My temp gauge is all over the place. I was going to start with the sensor, but I cant find it. I feel dumb because I know its gotta be somewhere. If the new sensor doesnt do the trick what else should I try? what about looking at the gauge itself? Electrical problems are something Im not too great at. Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated!

-Thanks

temp gauge is driver side of the block all the way back near the firewall about 3/4 of the way up on the block. try the sensor is thats bad i believe the only other thing that could be bad is the cluster

Thanks tltruckparts. Even with your good description I still had a hard time seeing it. I'm glad you told me or I probably would still be looking for it. I just disconnected and reconnected the plug and it seems to be working fine. I could see that water could very easily make its way into that plug and short it out. Anyway seems to be ok now.
Thanks for the info. It was much appreciated.

Glad you found it. Another cause of this is the ground from the battery to the radiator support. Its WAY under sized and causes all sorts of issues. Upgrading to heavy wire solves alot of electrical gremlins. My gauge was reading backwards because of this.
