thanks there big bad. Only real problems i have is a moaning and grinding type sound when lugging it or getting on it hard. I will assume overfilling by one quart will take care of that. also trannie will pop out of first gear. im thinking that maybe the bearing in first is worn along with the front support bearing. Sound good?

nope i will bet that the 1-2 syncro housing is cracked i have rebuilt 6 now and 4 were cracked and caused a bad grind or a pop out

as for the over fill that will be a plus but these things are noisy from the start so don't expect that to go away too much

also check the yoke nut for torque they come loose and cause to much lash and cause it to make excessive noise and sometimes pop out

i have a 91.5 with the 5 speed with 3.54 gears. i get 20 plus in the country driving (55 or under) seems like on the interstate it will come down to about 18. 45mph it gets good mpg. i dont have a tach or any gauges.

Is your OD kicking in? Doesn't really sound like it is, or someone is lying about gearing. Pull the rear cover off and look for #'s or count the gears.

yes i am not referring to the gear ratio but to the fact if your clutch is good and you shift the trany into any gear and it goes in it has to work it is a direct connection between the gears
