A/C pump question
my a/c pump seems to cycle every 30 seconds or so even when the a/c is not turned on. is this normal? i dont like it, can i just un plug it somewhere? it never gets hot enough where i live to need a/c.
ya just unplug it the plug is right there going into the back of the AC pump
Are you running the defrosters when this happens? Some vehicles use the ac system to take the humidity out of the air to assist with defrosting the windows better. That could be the reason that it is cycling on and off also.
interesting thanks for the info that helps me as well
its doing it all the time. im going to un plug it. it cant be helping the fuel economy the way it pulls the motor down so noticably. i will check and make sure on the defroster thing though.
it might need a recharge
once the system gets low it will cycle on and off low side cut off is set about 32 lbs below that amout of pressure you freeze the evaporator ambient temperature also has a lot to do with the low pressure switch |
different pressure switches cut out at different pressures, we run in to that at work sometimes on heavy equipment, prolly just needs recharged
Why recharge it? He says he doesn't need to run it at all where he is located. So why recharge if he isn't going to need it?:humm:

Well good to hear ya got it figured out. And for everyone else, keep that little bit of info in your mind. My little honda civic that I drive right now has all the a/c parts ripped out, but if i turn the defrost on high then my car will actually heat up and pop the radiator cap in the winter. ha ha. The car changes the way the car runs even though non of the a/c is actually there. Really sucks cuz I have to watch it constantly, rain or shine. Guess I should have swapped the radiator to match the motor so I could run the correct cap.:argh:
