New 1993 12 v single cab short bed dually need advice
So I just bought a 93 12v single cab short bed dually 268000 5 speed spicer rear end $2100 cash money. It pulls just as hard as my bros 2003 auto dually on 22.5s and his 1998.0 dually 12v. The guy I bought it off of (ex army sniper) said it was straight piped pump turned up but he didn't say exactly what they did and it has a k&n. I'm gona use it for towing a 16 ft cargo trailer full of appliances maybe 6000 lbs at most. I do live in pueblo Colorado and I have to go through the mountains occasionaly so high altitude is a factor over 5000 feet here. The first thing I plan on doing is check for killer dowel pin, 2nd gauges 3rd dennyt fuell pin turn star wheel adjust smoke screw ;-) I do want this truck reliable over horse power because I'll be lifting my 78 bronco durring this summer and this will be my work truck. some advice would be helpful cause this is my first cummins but I'm not oblivious to the scene ive been reading diesel magazines for a few years now. Also I will post pics

welcome to diesel bombers it sounds like your headed down the right road with the plan you have now :yeah: what about a full service with checking all oil levels or changing them u joints and everything

The steering all feels tight no funny noises yet and get this it's a shocker lol THE AC WORKS crazy huh :jump:

|
That's a long box 8' a short box is 6'

What is death wobble I think it is a 8 foot but I'll double check but it still does have a short wb and love that cause I'm so used to my bronco

What are the best gauges to have on the first Gen I know I want egt and boost plus a tach and what else would be benfital
|
you've got it pretty well covered there. You could consider a rear end temp and trans temp. Oil pressure maybe.
|
why would i need rear end temp does it actully give u temp for rear diff or is it something different
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- also i was maybe wanting some new rims i was thinking 07 oe dually wheels i found a set in denver cl for 350 with tires what do you think:tu: |
yeah, it gives you rear diff temp, some people run them when they are towing heavy.
|
fuel pressure would be the third gauge to have :tu:

So I just got the plates today and I love this truck :rocking: but it has a wierd sound it sounds like some sort of air leak until I push the brake and then it stops any ideas everything functions properly just the sound has me scatching my head also the abs light is on as well as the parking brake light
|

open the glove box and remove it behind it is a black box for the ABS unplug it and that will be alot better braking as far as the air leak idk

The air leak might be your vacuum booster leaking into the cab.
|
the stacks were take off of our pete when we put straights but it cost about 500 for pipe to go from the turbo back. i went to a "Truck Parts" store and put my own kit together. had to make my own 5in down pipe though
