need quick advice on possible cummins trade

got a possible trade for a 95 chevy one ton 4 door 2 wheel drive with a 1990 cummins and 5 speed transmission pyro and boost gauges he says it gets 30mpg and has a intake and bigger injectors.

My truck has all the stuff in my sig but also leaks power steering engine oil front seal on tranny and recently started dripping diesel out of the bottom of the injection pump. It also needs a new instrument cluster it's shot truck is dinged up pretty bad too and paint is peeling what you guys think plus I tow a descent amount not sure if the older tranny is good to hold up from the 90 chevy

i think 30mpg is a little out there in a 1 ton 4 door truck. mine is only a 3/4ton 2 door and i only get like 15.

but as for the trade, i would personally keep your truck. its a newer body style and a 24valve. and a 90 cummins isnt even intercooled and has a tiny turbo. but pictures would definitely help

Keep yours.

And yes 30mpg is complete bull.

My dad drove truck for 18 years and was know to get some of the best fuel bonuses at several of the companies he worked for.

Going to Phoenix from UT we managed to get 30 MPG and that was the best he has ever gotten. The truck when driven by my dad would consistently get 23-25, now that it's gotten about 250k on it then it had went down since he really doesn't service it like he should. His truck is a 1ton dually extra cab. So if someone was really good and with a few tweeks might be able to squeez 30 out, but would not be a everyday thing.

You would have to put the 4BT in one of these trucks to get that kinda mileage.

maybe going downhill with a tail wind.

These trucks have their good and bad days, my dad was pretty consistent at getting mid 20's before he put on the flatbed.

my short bed, single wheel one ton got a consistant 25mph hwy with 3.54 gears and an auto. i got 29 once but i never broke 30. it only weighed 4800 pounds with me in it. i dont think there is anyway a 4 door dually could break 30

Yeah, when we got 30 it was 115* out with no a/c on and all rather flat ground. It was going from Indian Res, south of Page, AZ to Phoenix. It was a shitty drive.

Goldie gets 25-28 in the summer time. I got 27 driving to DC from Ohio running anout 70-75 the whole way. I was running 50/50 B fuel.
