Heater problems
Well last night in a snow storm my heater decided to start giving me trouble. I can hear the blower working under the dash but hardley get any air coming out of the vents. when this happened the heater is now louder than it was. any ideas?

No air coming out of any vents?
Try switching to recirc, maybe your front vent is clogged. You have a vacuum-actuated valve on the heater core that should default to "open" and only close when you turn on A/C, you have the red-to-blue blend-door slider that is a mechanical linkage with the blend door, then you have three vacuum actuators; one opens the defroster vents, one selects between floor vents and dash vents, and one selects between recirculator door inlet and front fresh-air inlet. (The defrost actuator is only relevant if the dash vents are closed.) Something's probably stuck. |
well how do i get the deal un-stuck?

They might accumulate grit and grim on the pushrod that comes out of the actuator, and that might hang things up.
Probably more likely is that a plastic vacuum line broke or got kinked, although they seem to me like they're pretty high quality. Worse comes to worse get a new actuator. They're pretty easy to find and cheap in junk yards. Might even be able to rebuild one... |
