boiling point

ok haveing a little problem, yesterday i thought i heard my antifreeze boiling, got out of the truck nothing. heard it again to night when i got home got out poped the hood and it was. the truck funs the same temp on the guage it allways has, and i haven't done any mods to the truck recently except for my air dog, and i doubt that caused it. so other then maby my cap craped out any ideas what could be causing it?

Your cap is probably not holding the right psi that could cause it to boil but just plain water boils at 212 so if you have any antifreeze in it at all should raise the boiling point by alot my truck runs at 190 and i thought that was high.

bad antifreeze can also do that as well. maybe time for a coolant flush

yeah the cap is ok tested it, but i noticed a lot of scale in the radiator, so i flushed it, couldn't get it clean,:argh: new one is on the way........ guess i'll rip the head off wile i'm workning on it, too bad i had plans to buy a turbo with my tax money, not a head gasget and rad:s:

thanks guys, sean

hey man before you go drop like 3 or 400 on a radiator, take your old one to a radiator shop and have it cleaned. i got mine cleaned for 87 bucks and i swear to god its cleaner than a brand new one is! the thing shines like its polished on the inside. beats the hell out of 400 on a radiator. and a headgasket should only run you like 50 bucks

yep its the head gasget, pressure tested the cooling system at 30 psi, leaked down right away. rippen the head off tomarow hopefully the head isn't cracked. i don't need that bill on top of everything else.
