Rear Main Leaking?

The other day my clutch started slipping and it smelled like it was getting oil on it. I can even take off in 2nd gear anymore(without a load) Could it be my rear main seal leaking?:humm:

I would believe you would see oil on the driveway if your rear main is leaking. mine is getting bad. started out like an old man with prostate problems or somethin that kinda drips a little. Now it's like an old man in a nursing home that just has to go when he's gotta go.:tttt:

its not leaking out on the ground though. My dad said it was because i turned it up, but I only turned it up 1 turn, took the afc spring out, and rotated the fuel pin. Its been like that for about 2 or 3 weeks and i could just rape it and the clutch wouldnt slip at all.

turning your fuel pump up shouldnt hurt the rear main.

i ment the clutch

If your dad says you gone and done ruined it, then you're not going to win that argument. Just smile and nod.

That could be a rear main, right guys? I'm too clouded with anger over life at the moment to clearly visualize a push-type clutch mechanism... Lets see, one friction disk, makes contact on the front with the flywheel, the rear with the pressure plate... If the rear crank seal leaks, does it leak oil between the flywheel and the block or between the flywheel and the friction disk? I don't know that one... But if it's leaking at any rate, all the stuff is in there spinning and whatnot, so I would imagine that oil could get all over the place and make stuff slip.

Is there an inspection plate on the clutch housings? In case you had to take it off and, like, change out a ...clutch brake... or something? Pull off the inspection plate and see if it's all oily?

Hell, sounds good to me.

i dont believe the getrags have inspection covers, at least i dont think mine does IIRC.

my rear is leaking i noticed it today at the gas station. but my clutch is not slipping at all

If there is no cover than where does the oil drip out from?

TTipsword 02-15-2010 11:41 PM

in between the block and bell housing

No gasket there? No RTV?
