3/4 ton front end alignment
Ive got the 85 prospector 1/2 ton and i need to get it aligned. The last time i did this the tech wouldnt do it because he said i had the wrongor damaged draglink on there. My tierod ends are both RH thread and he said 1 is suspose to be LH thread. Therefore he couldnt grab the centerlink and twist to pull the wheels in or out.Whats up with my setup? Is this stock?Ive never replaced any parts up front besides the servicable jouints and whatnot.

They should be opposite threads on each side. that does seem strange.:humm:
|
One is a coarse thread and ones fine, but theyre both RH threads!

Sounds like a previous owner dinked with it. You might have to go the the wrecking yard and find a replacement. That sucks:ouch:
|
shitcrap!I wonder if the PO got a tierod end for a wrong vehicle and used that.I dont understand how theyre both threaded the same.Unless theres two of the same couplers on the tierod. Then one would have to be from completely other vehicle that has a RH coarse thread or vice versa. What is it from the factory?which side has which thread?does it matter?
|
If I remember right, both sides are fine thread, just one right and one left. How you ended up with one end with course threads is beyond me. Unless, like you said, someone used the wrong part and just made it work.:dang: I don't know which side is which, I'm not sure that it would matter....I could be wrong.

I think the tierod is fine thread. but the tire wear issue is a camber issue since its only the one side if it were a toe issue(tierod) it would be on both sides of the tire. being that the top of the tire is tipped out it is a camber issue most definately they are adjustable by a balljoint concentric that just needs to be rotated to be in spec.
|
Is that the threaded sleeve in the top ball joint socket? The manual says to tighten that to 40 ft lbs then bring the balljoint nut down to somethinglike 60ftlbs.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- where do i get this eccentric? |
that should be it.. threaded sleeve in the top ball joint socket. you may have to buy them from napa or elsewhere if your threaded sleeve looks dead center most of the threaded sleeves I have seen look like a cam lobe and you can rotate that with a 1 1/4 or so wrench to adjust camber
