pod injectors

looking to upgade injectors but dont want to completely sacrifice my fuel economy has anybody got any numbers on where thier mpgs are at runing with lucas pod injectors or anything else for that matter i know air intake has to match fuel and you cant get power without more fuel and so on and so on i'm just looking for some real world numbers.

I believe the common consensus on POD's is that they make good budget power at the expense of mpg's. and heat.

Is your truck intercooled or non-Intercooled?

Exactly

I have been getting about 14 mpg when I keep my foot out of it somewhat. My pump isn't cranked much, my EGTs are at 1150F with it at WOT, so I'm sure I can crank it more and get more power, but probably lose MPG. I also have the stock torque convertor in my auto, which slips terribly. Also have 3.54 gears, getting ready to put 35" tires on it to get the rpms down a little lower. But that 14 mpg was towing an 18' car hauler too. Even without OD and towing about 60 mph with a 3/4 ton chevy truck on the trailer, about 7K lb load total, it got 14 mpg. So I'm fairly happy with the mileage right now. I think with a better turbo and new exhaust it'll do better. My buddy always tells me with a diesel, rpms are what eat fuel (provided the truck is tuned properly).

The best way to get good milage out of a diesel is to drive by the boost gauge, If I drive around keep my boost as low as possible (10 psi max, while getting up to speed and cruising) I get CRAZY milage. Remember boost is directly related to how much fuel the engine is burning...

Rswords, mine likes to cruise at about 4 psi on the boost gauge while rolling down the interstate at 70 mph. More like 7 psi when I'm pulling the trailer. And even when I push the go pedal down a ways mine doesn't make much more than 10 psi, unless I actually mat it, the highest I've seen is 19 psi on my gauge. But so far I'm pretty pleased with the PODs and haven't even messed with the screws since the mechanic installed them and rebuilt my pump and tuned it. Just out of curiousity what does a set of 5x.014s run? I paid $440 for my set of PODs. Still need to get a smaller exhaust housing to get rid of some lag, or would you guys suggest a different turbo/exhaust housing set up altogether? Still need some new exhaust too, haha, poor old girl needs a lot of things yet.
