Need some advice.

Hey all

we fellas, i'm stumped. I really want some more power but can't think of anything to get me where i want to be. I know i will get a new m&h fuel pin, and a airdog fuel pump, but after those mods i can't really think of anything. I don't have the money for twins right now either.

thanks for any input.

1 word nitrous:w2:

DieselPerformanceGuy 12-22-2009 11:30 AM

o i just remebered what about water/meth too.

12vcummins96 12-22-2009 12:00 PM

its a good power adder mostly will help with egts

muskrat 12-22-2009 12:00 PM

Don't forget about your tranny. More power is great, as long as you can get it to the pavement. Shift kit and TC would come in handy, I reckon. What about adding more air as well, since you have big injectors and a bigger turbo, maybe trick out your cold air intake. Bumping (or spacing) your timing would help too.:c:

DieselPerformanceGuy 12-22-2009 01:19 PM

muskrat i have 3'' coolertubes and an asa modified intake, my egts are only 1150 at WOT. Yea i do need to upgrade my tranny to thanks, i've heard about the transgo shift kits but i can't findem anywhere.

I can count on my W/M for any where from 40 to 50 RWHP on the dyno with a 51/49 W/M mix.

fuel and air make power.More ,cooler air is always better but adding fuel is the ticket.Blocking wastegates.Pulling in cold air from the wheel well.larger pipes larger intercoolers and intakes.Nitrous is nice, but it expensive and unless your a track/dyno queen ,i wouldnt bother

propane?

You're not getting full fueling. With a stock/OEM 12mm injection pump typicaly "Maxed", you should be much hotter than that. :pca1:

DieselPerformanceGuy 12-23-2009 05:35 PM

yea the problem that i have is i have the stock fuel system. Stock lift pump and lines, after christmas i wanna get the airdog 165:pca1:

stillcummin 12-23-2009 09:15 PM

If your only at 1100 f you dont need it yet.You havent even maxed the pump. They can burn up an engine.Max fuel will give you 1500f on a good pull.

DieselPerformanceGuy 12-23-2009 09:42 PM

You havent even maxed the pump. They can burn up an engine.

I have pretty much maxed my pump, the full power screw is my idle screw i have it up so high, my idle screw got backed off, then i forgot to tighten the nut, now its almost out, its in just the right spot so i can't get to it with a flat head. So i have to have the full power up enough that it keeps my idle just right.

The stock fuel pump can burn up an engine.

Bob Beauchaine 12-24-2009 06:46 AM

With the fact that your full fuel screw is your idle screw it sounds like your pump needs to be re-indexed. Your not getting full travel on your throttle through the linkage.

Bob

stillcummin 12-24-2009 08:22 AM

see if you can reindex the throttle lever.Move it counterclockwise one tooth on the spline, bring your idle screw back. Then turn it up some more.It wont work unless you get the idle screw back in.This sets your gov spring tension. If you dont youll have a dead spot.Is the afc maxed out?If so maybe check you egt guauge and thermocouple lead.

your not maxed out either....... the average guy can only do so mutch i had my full power screw 1/4 turn from runaway took the pump off and to a shop they turned the FP screw out back to almost stock and did internal shit i dynoed 43 hp more with the shops tune than with the FP screw alone then i got the air dog 165 because the stock LP wouldent souport it and turned the FP screw back to runaway after the air dog another 36 hp on the same dyno thats 79 Hp in pump mods but at that time i had over 12 hours in pump tuning any idiot can turn up one of these trucks but the guy that takes his time to tune and get it all right so all the mods work together with a high efficency rate gets the most bang for his buck :c:
