voltage regulator woes
Got a 93 2wd dually that has wiped out 3 regulators in less than a week. 1st one stopped charging last 2 overcharging. ( it has external now). I have it mounted on good ground and even have ground strap from batt to regulator. All 3 have been chinese autozone crap. I have dual gell cell bats and 1 started smoking.
Is there anything to look for or am i gonna have to put my chevy alternator on it and ditch the chrysler crap? 3rd regulator lasted bout 15 miles. any specific brands better than others? Rob:argh::argh::argh::argh::scare2: |
The "Chrysler crap" on my 1st Gen is original factory (now what, 18 years old?) and never a problem. I think you have some wiring issues. OTOH, you could install the Chebby piece, re-do all the wiring and solve the problem that way. Same result. :w2:

Got her fixed:jump:. Just went to autozone and pissed and moaned enough to get my money back. Tried 4 of them. None lasted more than 10 miles. Went to oriley and bought one that had epoxy paint on it, even weighed more. Now I got 800 miles on it and rock steady 14.3v.... No wiring problem no retrofit. Just a better part. :c:
