No Charge From The Alternator.

Hey guys I am having trouble with my alternator not charging my battery on my 93 D350.I have had the battery tested, alternator tested, new computer for the dang thing and it still seems that it is not charging, also the ac quit the same time as well.I have had about all i can take with this thing I am about ready to set fire to the thing and send some pics to yall of it burning in the yard.

Check real closely the wiring going to the crankshaft position sensor. :pca1:

Keep after it, mine had the same issues, and finally found out I had 3 bad voltage regulators in a row. Finally got a good one. The one that turned out to be good and worked, didn't have the epoxy painted housing, it was bare metal. I did however scrape the paint off the epoxy painted ones to get good ground continuity. You can test to see if the charging system works by grounding the field terminal on the voltage regulator plug, if the system charges then, it's the regulator or the ground from the case of the regulator to ground itself. If it doesn't charge when you ground the field (green wire), then there are other issues in the truck. Might also need to adjust the crank position sensor some too. I replaced my CPS, Alternator, and 4 regulators to get mine working again. Likely the CPS and alternator weren't bad on mine, so now I have spares.

I am pretty mechanically inclined and can pretty much figure most things out once I realize what I am working with.I read the post about the 92W250 and think I might have same problem that he did.One question that I have is where is voltage regulator located and what do I check to see if mine is fine or gone bad?I have had the truck for about a month and a half and have only drove it twice since this problem went wrong. Thanks for all the help you can give me.

I am the guy that had that problem. As for location, mine was on the passenger fenderwell right near the turbo. As for testing it, just pull the plug off it and take a jumper wire and stick it in the side of the plug with the green wire and connect it to ground, I ran my jumper wire to the alternator ground itself. Then start the truck, if it charges, then the rest of the charging system works. Some auto parts stores can test the regulators, I couldn't find one around here that would, so I just told them it was defective and had the receipt, they gave me another one to try, but it took me 3 that's right 3 "new" ones to get one that worked. Also make sure you have the case of the regulator well grounded, since that's how it makes the regulator work. Post on here if that doesn't work for you. If you don't get it to charge by grounding that green wire on the plug, then something else is the problem. The other pin that goes to the regulator should have 12 volts on it. If you're not getting voltage there, might be something wrong with the ECU.
