lowered 1st gen cummins???

hey whats up my names david and im a 1st gen guy all the way. just lookin for people that know there stuff about dodges too.. does anyone know where i can get a lowering kit for my 91? also so you guys think i should go with a 285/60-18 tires with the mb wheels model 72 or the 255/55s??

RSWORDS 09-14-2009 06:00 PM

Whats up man.

No clue on th lowering kits but its been done. Got a pic of the wheels?

ZSkibo 09-14-2009 09:38 PM

Technically one should punch oneself in the face for thinking about lowering a 1st gen. I've seen it once and it looks like...not too good. :argh::argh::argh:

1st_gen25 09-15-2009 01:46 AM

if you just go to tires.com and look at the wheels by size there 18s with the 8 on 6.5 my computers being a piece there the mb model 72. and thanks i dont think im going to lower it anymore the wheels will do the trick.

Why? It's his truck, so why is your opinion more valid than his? I personally hate the way lifted trucks look, but I don't say anyone thinking about lifting their truck should just run it off the road. It's their opinion, respect it, whether you agree with it or not.

OP, sorry, I don't know anything about lowering trucks, as I prefer mine stock, but let us know how the progress goes. By the way, some pics of the truck would be nice. :U:

1st_gen25 09-15-2009 01:53 AM

lol ill put some more up tomorrow. i just tow alot with it so lowering it will mess with that and it makes it really hard to find tires...i already have to do with a 31x11.50 its the nitto terra grapper

LOGANSTANFORTH 09-15-2009 03:24 AM

I plan on lowering my 90 model 2wd truck......

1st_gen25 09-15-2009 03:37 AM

yes, why????

I aint sure yet how I'm gonna lower it yet, shorter shackles, less springs......I dont know yet.......

TTipsword 09-15-2009 10:12 AM

i want to lower my rear end just a bit so it sits more level. also might make it ride smoother. how many leafes you think id need to take out 1 or 2?

cumminskid92 09-15-2009 04:01 PM

i took out one spring in the rear end and mine sits pretty level. it gave it a pretty good stance.

TTipsword 09-15-2009 07:10 PM

hows the ride after taking it out?

Vargafarm 09-16-2009 12:05 PM

I thought they were self lowering? at least in the front......

TTipsword 09-16-2009 02:06 PM

What do you mean self lowering?

RSWORDS 09-16-2009 04:50 PM

he 1st gens sag after 20 years of service... :D

I wonder if you can run a half ton spring in the front to lower it...

tower_ofpower 09-16-2009 09:27 PM

bobby, by spring do you mean a coil spring for the 2wd or a leaf for 4wd? a half ton spring for a 4wd would be pretty entertaining; nothin like a horse shoe ontop of the axle lol

1st_gen25 09-17-2009 01:37 AM

ya your truck looks really good with a leaf out. what size tires and wheels do you have?

Vargafarm 09-17-2009 03:54 PM

gravity + cummins + old springs = long term low rider

cumminskid92 09-21-2009 03:06 PM

it rides pretty good. still rough

yeah his is a 2wd. I would try it.

tower_ofpower 09-21-2009 10:37 PM

might have to upgrade the shocks tho to maintain ride and stability with the 1/2 ton spring... should make it ride like a town car :w2:

staylorw250 04-06-2011 08:11 AM

Vargafarm 04-06-2011 09:07 AM

Nice work, looks good.
I like it:tu:

deanhinsley1963 02-23-2012 12:19 AM

Dont really like the idea of the back spring shackle mount with only 2 bolts. I would have done longer shackles and left the mount where it was. looks good though. Hows the ride?:tu:

cummins_guy 02-23-2012 10:57 AM

sweet pic of what I would like to have lowered
