waste gating?

How do you waste gate a turbo on a first gen.

like say if you got a 12cm wg exhaust housing are all the parts there you need or will i have to do somthing else?:humm:

ypu have to get the 12cm housing that is wastegated... (it's integral to the housing) and i'd stick with a 14cm IMO it'll keep spool up there; but also flow enough to keep everything cool... 12cm is abit restrictive with pump mods and injectors

also a heads up... by the time you buy everything to update the H1C your just afew bucks shy of a really nice used turbo... and with that you can get a 2nd gen (wastegated) use an HX40 downpipe and since it's 4" it'll increase torque and spool up plus mount up with your bully dog exhaust nice and easy. but i do believe that a replacement wastegated housing lacks the wastegate actuator...

ok thanks, so a 14 cm you can get without a wg

tower_ofpower 08-27-2009 03:01 PM

yep, that's the way i'd go... with a 60 er 62mm inducer and housing... you can make the H1C a pretty nice turbo but it then makes the shaft the weak link... as stated before; after the upgrades you wouldn't be too far off... talk and deal with the right people you can get some nice stuff for pocket change compared to new turbo's... RSWORDS picked up his turbo for 250 bucks if i recall correctly....

wow he sure knows hot to deal then.

i had another question can a 2nd gen after market turbo fit a first gen, like a complete bolt up no custom fitting.

NadirPoint 08-28-2009 12:33 PM

Aftermarket turbos aren't necessarily "Dodge-gen-specific."
