Factor temp gague, What's going on??
For some reason my truck is reading hotter all of the sudden and I notice that when the turn signal is on, there is little jump in the needle for my engine temp, and when stepping on brakes or running a/c my temp. is at 1 bar from hot, when normal its in the middle. Anyone know what's going on?
Is it just when the A/C is on or just the turn signal or is it running hot all the time. Start with the obvious, checking the coolant, maybe the thermostat is sticking at times. Could also be electrical
its not all the time, when I put turn signal on the needle will jump and little, when putting the brakes on it will make it look like its running hot, when I put the a/c on it say's its running well warmer then usuall. Coolant's good, just put a new radiator lock cap on as the oild one wasn't pulling fluid back in as it had a leak.

I jsut did that to mine too. IDK what to tell you about that problem your having other than electricity does some weird shit sometimes. Maybe someone else will chime in
Ya I don't get it either, probley stop by the shop and have a word with them and see if they might know my problem.
Mine did similar..
when I hit the brakes the fuel gauge would shoot over to empty and stay pegged on E until I let off the brakes.. then it would come back up. it turned out to be a brake light ground wire in the rear came disconnected. Dodge seems to not make a lot of sense in wiring because I don't see why a brake light ground would affect the fuel gauge on a different set of wires... but oh well it works right now :choochoo: |
Yeah start checking grounds. The body ground from the battery negative to the rad core support is very under sized and rots out bad. I would replace that one with a heavy gauge wire first and see if that helps. That was causing ALOT of electrical issues with my truck.
Fixed it. It was a ground wire going from battary straight to frame underhood, and just replace it and made it alittle longer, and tommrow going to make a braket so my battary don't move, that was the problem, im pretty sure, thanks guys.
Yeah those grounds play hell on electrical stuff.
Ya id say, it was a very nice and simple 2 min fix!
yep, on the 84 gasser after the resto the windshiled wipers wouldn't work unless the dome light was on or the door was open. now tell me if that'd defeat the purpose running down the road with the door open durring a rainstorm? :w2: but, yeah as associated with wacky electrical problems, just need a proper ground.
