Up to you, Or you could call Dave Goerend the MASTER of dodge trannys. Also talk to your tranny guy and get his advice, you will want someone that builds perfomance trannys.

Bad93Cummins 07-11-2009 09:29 AM

Ya I guess that's what I need to do is print out both options and talk to my tranny guy and see what he thinks.

Begle1 07-11-2009 09:41 AM

Goerends doesn't sell non-lock-up transmissions.

I'd look into local guys; transmissions built for "Diesels" cost more because they are "for Diesels".

A big upgrade is a steel planetary.

Bad93Cummins 07-11-2009 10:52 AM

Ya that's a big reason I was looking at ATS Diesel's kit.

Yeah he does Begle, just not on teh site... he quoted me one when I was doing my tranny.

Begle1 07-11-2009 12:48 PM

He didn't quote me when I asked, that was about year and a half ago.

RSWORDS 07-11-2009 02:49 PM

Huh... Odd... Maybe he liked me more... :D

Yeah he said he could build a whole tranny when I got my TC this winter. Didn't sound overly excited about it though. Maybe he was slowing down.

Bad93Cummins 07-13-2009 11:04 AM

well a couple people have said to just get a rebuild kit and there's no need for the upgraded kits unless putting up big number, so would something like this work just as good?

HD Rebuild Kit - Dodge A518/A618 Transmission:eBay Motors (item 370220739236 end time Jul-25-09 15:18:31 PDT)

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

or is this a better kit?

TransGo Reprogramming Kit A500 / A518 89-up Performance / heavy duty kit: Bulkpart transmission parts

Budgreen 07-13-2009 12:28 PM

I would build it as bad as possible just to be safe....

better to spend the extra to know you won't kill it, but thats just me

RSWORDS 07-13-2009 12:54 PM

Yeah the "perfomance" clutches and steels are not much more then a stock set. I would do it once and do it right. Its the torque thats gonna kill the tranny.

Bad93Cummins 07-13-2009 12:59 PM

That's what I was figureing that's manily the reason I was pulling towards the ATS tranny kit as its set-up for heavy towing and street performance.

RSWORDS 07-13-2009 02:07 PM

:U:

I'm sure you will be happy however you do it!

Bad93Cummins 07-13-2009 07:34 PM

ill probley end up with the ATS one as they are a very known name for good perofrmance parts for diesel's and its made for what I do with my truck.
